Geogaching

On a hot day in May we set out for some treasure hunting. Mark is the Master Geocacher and selected a cache nearby, a multi-chache meaning there were 4 clues to be solved to get the final coordinates.

We met near the Rose Bowl and the boys climbed the trees while we waited for the others. It seems as we get closer to the end of the school year more stuff is coming up and we ended up with 3 boys.

Master Cacher Mark programs the GPS with the first coordinates.

And off we went.

Somehow we found the front entrance to the Rose Bowl. Actually the first clue was to find the tunnel number to the right.

Then off to the next.

Most importantly we found the guy selling ice cream

Eventually we were on the right track and Jason climbed up the hill to find the cache.

It's an ammo box filled with lots of goodies. Each of the boys placed something in and took something out. Ethan got a Travel Bug that is now headed to Alaska to be placed in a cache by his Uncle Rog.

Geocaching

This Sunday, May 17 at 2pm, we're going to meet to go geocaching. Bring a GPS if you have one and if you choose to bring a small toy, key chain, baseball card, or other small inexpensive item you can swap it for something in the cache. After the hunt we will do our last den activity required for the Tiger Cub badge. The kids will have time to play in the park and we may grill up some hot dogs.

Where is it going to be? Well, this is a hunt, so here's your clue for the starting place...
